So many peeps, yet not a single one thought of this (and it's simple ang GOOD for everybody, no war-decs, no nothing). You all suggested ways to fight macro miners IN THE GAME. Why not make the game detect any macros that are used? To have it look through the active processes once every 30 minutes or so (the interval should be random, so that macros won't be able to evade it by temporary shutting down and restart after a certan amount of time), and search for a piece of code that could be from a macro program. In the case of code being falsly identified as macro, you should have the option to mail the program that contains that to the devs, thus clearing you of suspicion (provided that the program really isn't a macro). What do you tink?
EDIT: And yes, i know this thread is at least 5 months old at the time I post this. Five monts, and not a single person thought of this !!!!!!! Well, except me
NO! NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!! This would mean that EVE is turning into CS with their Valve system (for those who don't know, Valve searches your computer files every time a game associated with Valve starts up for hacks and cheats. If any are found, your account is perma-banned and you must pay for a new one).
Now, I'm not saying this because I'm a macro miner, I'M NOT!!!! However, I don't like the idea of a foreign program snooping through not only my files, but my running processes. And it's not once it starts up, it's constantly, or at a interval. And besides, you can't really detect a macro in the way you suggest, because macros run as a background process (surprisingly, since it affects the current screen) and there's nothing really to set it apart, other than a program realizing that "Macro Maker" or whatever is running at the same time as EVE...which goes back to the other issue.
And let's not forget, this would require either A) Much recoding or B) Adding another, third party program to EVE...
CCP no like A.... Methinks nobody would like B...
